Did you know that the stomach has enough acidity to burn a 1p coin?

This is by far and wide one of the most important products that I use day to day and something that I think is so important to implement right at the beginning of your journey. Kefir is my favourite ‘Super food’ and having used it for years I still marvel at its healing powers and its ability to keep the body alkaline, it is one of the only things out there that I believe is truly worthy of the ‘Super food title’.

Rhythm Health are my go to company, you can find them stocked in Wholefoods, Planet organic as well as through their website above. They are the only company that stock coconut Kefir and offer a whole range of other exciting products including coconut Kefir yoghurt, flavoured coconut Kefir and Kefir cleanse plans as well as the newest addition to their range Sauerkraut and other fermented snacks for at home or on the go a truly revolutionary product that’s tastes good too!

In my diet and life I stress the importance of a healthy gut and how to ensure through eating the right foods it has the right PH balance and healthy bacteria. Stomach acidity is linked to a whole host of illnesses, which is the reason why people stress the importance of keeping it as alkaline as possible.

Originally from the Caucasus Mountains (in the former Soviet Union in Central Asia) the word Kefir comes from the Turkish word ‘Keyif’ which means ‘to feel good’.

There are two types of Kefir, one made from dairy and one made from young coconuts or nuts. I prefer coconut Kefir due to being lactose intolerant but both are rich in minerals and vitamins.

Kefir cultures contain up to 10 different types of naturally occurring bacteria, three times more than yoghurt, which is known for digestive nutrition. It is also a rich source of calcium, potassium and protein and also offers many different vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids such as folic acid, lactic acid, biotin and Vit K and C.

Coconut Kefir is a natural probiotic and antibiotic with a lot more benefits than shop brought supplements.

The benefits of coconut Kefir are almost too long to list but can be found on rhythms website by visiting the site you can also read some incredible accounts of how Kefir has changed peoples lives by combatting diseases such a Crohns and Colitis.
