Dana Villas Santorini
Santorini is one of the most beautiful Greek islands I have been lucky enough to visit. A breathtaking contrast of white stone buildings and beautiful blue sky.
We came here in August and it was boiling, you have two options to reach the top of Santorini, either by donkey or on a creaky cable cart. I am not sure which option was worse, but I hedged my bets and chose the latter.
Once you reach the top – you realise that taking the shakey cable cart or climbing on the back of an unknown donkey was definitely worth it – the views are out of this world.
We had a lunch reservation at Dana villas – a good 15 minute walk from the cable cart through exquisite paved white streets displaying local art works on one side and beautiful cliff views on the other.
Dana Villas is set in a beautiful little courtyard covered in pink flowers with a pool in the middle. The waitress was one of the most enthusiastic woman I have ever met – especially about the food. There is no time for menus at Dana Villas you just need to request something authentic and greek and the kitchen gets to work. Whilst waisting they served us a cool greek local rose and we sat back and soaked up Santorini from our little cove in the cliffs.
The food at Dana villas was spectacular from hefty greek salads laden with creamy greek feta to beautiful fish dishes washed down with local greek beer this is as close to food heaven as I was going to get. Dana Villas is definitely worth a trip its friendly, authentic and has some of the best views in Santorini.
